EXERCISE 2: GIVING BAD NEWS 




Imagine the following situations to give bad news:
1. You want to break up with your boyfriend
2. You want to say to your family that you are pregnant 
3. You want to confess to your best friend that you have had an affair with her boyfriend
4. You want to say to your boss that you have found a better job
5. You want to say to your best friend that she is really annoying

Arduous (trabajoso): Our journey up the steep mountain path under the beating sun was arduous.

Hardship (adversidad/dificultad): The people suffered a lot of hardship during the drought

Gruelling (agotador) : After a grueling climb to the top of the mountain, the hikers rested

Tough (duro/dificil): This unit is tough to study, it's got so much grammar! 

Complex (complejo): Her problem was complex.

Dilemma (dilema): I've got a dilemma, I don't know which one should I choose. 

Ordeal (calvario/experiencia dura): I had a surgery on Monday, the ordeal lasted 2 hours. 

Obstacle (obstáculo): He was the winner even though he needed to face some obstacles.
